Amalgam Scent and Beauty
Hey loves. How was your black Friday and Cyber Monday? I hope you had the chance to grab what you wanted. The thanksgiving holiday was busy for me and I hope you had a great one. I really wanted to write this review before black Friday but I didn't have the chance to till now. I have had the chance to try new lovely products from an indie company. Amalgam Scent and Beauty is a vegan and cruelty free company that sells bath, body, perfume, and makeup. The sweet owner Laura sent me a few goodies from their recent collection that released on Black Friday. You can shop by clicking the link here but below is a review and a few ideas how to use the shadows, and highlight you can check out to help you shop.
The Sweet Kingdom Collection
This collection was based on the ballet The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. It features 5 pressed shadows (2 metallic and 3 matte), a loose pigment, a perfume, and a highlighter. Above I have swatched 3 of the shadows and 1 highlight.
From left to right:
Marchpane Castles: Yellowed ivory with a matte finish
Mouse King: A warm gold (Metallic)
BonBon Town: A burnt eggplant also a matte finish
Rose Lake: Highlighter in pale pink with a rosy Shift
The shadows worked amazing. No fallout, very pigmented, and they blended heavenly. I went for a slightly dramatic look in the picture above but if you want to tone it down a bit you go less heavy with the Bon Bon town on the crease. I used Marchpane Castles on the lid. These two shadows are my most absolute favorite of the collection. Marchpane Castles (yellowed Ivory) gave me no problem at all. Normally light mattes take a bit to build up but this one was absolutely wonderful. I think I may be hitting pan soon cause this color works great for any look, and combined with any shadow.
Above I have used the shadow Mouse King (A warm gold) This one is so lovely in person as well. The shade is perfect for the upcoming holiday celebrations. I used the shadow mouse king on the lid and used the browns from a neutral palette I own to create a soft look. You could probably add a black with the gold to create a more dramatic look.
In the picture above I used the rose lake highlighter on my cupids bow and on the cheek bones. You can not see very clearly in this picture but it is such a lovely subtle pink glow. If you want to try a colored highlighter and pink is a choice you should definitely check this one out. Its not to dramatic but if you do want the drama pink you can probably use a base like a cream highlighter and brush this one on after.
Above is a screenshot from a video I posted on my instagram (@rubiredlipstick). This is the loose pigment called Grand Gesture. This one is described as a snow white shimmer with a blue/ green shift. It can work as a highlight, lip topper, and eye shadow. Anything your heart desires. You can even use it over a black base to really bring out the blue green shift. This shade pigment is so lovely in person.
These are a few of the items this collection has there is also a perfume that I thought smelled very elegant. It's called Confectionville. It has a smell off marshmallows and Mohagany. Reminds me of Christmas and sweets. Everything in this collection is affordable and She even offers sample sizes at very low low prices incase you want to try something out before you order the full size. You can also use my code Rubired to save 10% on your order. I don't get paid for this so my reviews are my honest opinions. I enjoyed everything in this collection. Indie companies hold a special part. I have even come to realize they provide better quality then some high end brands. These companies strive to offer the best and their costumer service is amazing. If you have never tried a indie brand, do try them out. You will see why its great to shop small businesses. Have a lovely day beauties and thank you again for checking the blog out.
